{thanksfully, 2.0: beauty}

I’m not the type of girl who has… china. I had a set of stonewear in college a friend started me out with, and it was the type of stuff you could hit people with, or drop. Which tells you a lot about the kind of person I am. Nothing delicate, or complicated, please. I don’t want to break it, or bung it up with my confused fingers.

So, none of that really explains the teacup thing.

I went to a junk shop with my Mom, just after college, and bought six. Unmatched. For no reason except that they were delicate and old and beautiful. I’m trying not to have too many – to always trade out some or plant something in another – but I still love them, because they are just beautiful. That’s really the same reason I wear jewelry, I guess. It was frowned on, when I was growing up, it was something only Certain Types of girls did, but I just love having pretty things around me. So, here’s to celebrating the fact that I’m not a Puritan, don’t have to be, and my faith says I can love beautiful things, just because they are.

So, there.

And, for this I give thanks.
