So, Remember, in The Hunger Games

…how crass and uncouth it seems that the Games are filmed, and life-and-death struggles are confined to a telecast? How disgusting Katniss found the pomaded and fashion-obsessed are also obsessed with watching the deaths instead of learning to create a better life for their community and themselves? Look what Gail says about that. My word. I hadn’t even thought of it that way.

And now I say: Ick.

Meanwhile, SF Signal has released the second section of international SFF interviews; countries highlighted this week are the Netherlands, China, Poland, France, Italy, Finland, Russia and India.

  1. I'd never heard of Jon and Kate, but I don't think anyone can imagine what the loss of privacy means. Not really. It's kind of like hearing about the sleep deprivation that happens after having a baby, and yet it doesn't sink in until afterward that it means no catching up on sleep on the weekends. It means sleep deprivation ALL THE TIME.

Hunger Games doesn't seem that distant into the future. I wonder if there would be to-the-death types of reality shows if they weren't illegal.

  2. I haven't watched their show, but I feel badly for that Jon and Kate. They look miserable, and, goodness knows, I'm sure my life would not bear up to that kind of scrutiny.
