CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!

Well, it’s time to pack up this giveaway, and get back to normal, which means a lot less messing around, and a lot more work. Oh, well. Books, with their original designer (hah!) bookplates, will be winging their way across the Atlantic to their various recipients shortly. Stay tuned!

For those of you a bit dismayed to not yet be finding copies of MARE’S WAR on the bookshelves of independent booksellers or B&N, don’t worry — shelf space is at a premium, and B&N especially prefers to have ninety-nine copies of a bestseller on hand than give even a shelf to a relative newcomer. However – persistence pays! Thanks to all of those who have been asking and pestering their local bookstores to carry my book, and a special thanks to all who, by handselling, reccomendation and “you’ve got to read this!” have connected Mare with readers who are delighted to find her.

Danke! Mille graize! Merci beaucoup! Taak! Gracias! Thank you all, so very much.

  1. Thank you for a great bok! I just finished Mare's War today and enjoyed it so much. What a great combination of Mare's experiences and the road trip. I like that Octavia found out something important about herself…and life..after her sister messed up and love the almost ending in Alabama…plus the final post card. While living in Berkeley I had a few friends a bit like Mare…I've always enjoyed friendships with World War II era women…and in Berkeley that included friendships with black women, asian women, hispanic women, too. Your book is a delight and shed some light on the unjustice of treatment of our service men and women due to discrimination. Thank heavens for President Truman (whose executive order began the desegration of the military around 1949)…and even more so President Obama!

  2. I'm so glad you said that about B & N. Tried to find it last weekend. Was so excited, and they didn't have it. What is wrong with them?? Anyway, will hit a Nashville bookstore.

  3. What a fun launch! Loved all the photos you posted :). You may find yourself solely responsible for a spike in the sales of red stilettos! 😀

  4. Thank you for the fun, Tanita! And I'm looking forward to the book.

I've pestered my local independent…and will repester once I've actually read it!
