{thanksfully 2.0: morning}

Skyway Drive 118

You know you’re just either a misanthrope or an introvert when 6 a.m. is your preferred time for grocery shopping.

There are others of this tribe. We ignore each other as we glide past each other in nearly empty aisles. There are no people on their phones, very quiet music (sometimes they even forget to turn it on) and sleepy-eyed box boys kicking cardboard out of the way as they stock cans.

Ah, bliss.

Which isn’t going to happen today, alas. By the time we get the house pulled together (what HAPPENS when we go on vacation!?!? Do our possessions multiply? I’m pretty sure I know what the laundry has been doing behind my back…) it’ll be half past eleven. But, it was a nice thought: a weekend morning, fresh-scrubbed. Getting all of my chores done, so I can go back to bed by noon…

::sigh::For the idea, if not the reality, I give thanks.

  1. We are often late for school because I hate waking everyone else up, and admitting that my beautiful morning time alone is over…I go to bed looking forward to waking up again.
